A Reading by Deb Olin Unferth

On November 6, 2009, Deb Olin Unferth read from her novel, Vacation , on the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University. Vacation is the 2009 winner of the Cabell First Novelist Award and the reading was a part of the annual award festival. Unferth is also the author of the short story collection Minor Robberies , which along with Vacation , was published by McSweeney’s Books. She was introduced by Terry Oggel, chair of the VCU Department of English.

Deb Olin Unferth

Deb Olin Unferth is the author of the novel Vacation and the short story collection Minor Robberies , both from McSweeney’s. Her next book, Revolution , is forthcoming from Henry Holt and Company. Unferth is the recipient of a Pushcart Prize, a Creative Capital Grant, and the VCU Cabell First Novelist Award. She is an assistant professor at Wesleyan University and is currently working on a graphic novel.
