Larry Levis Remembered | Larry Levis at Laurel and China

This portrait of Larry Levis with lines from his poem, “Boy in a Video Arcade” appeared in spring 2007 at the corner of Laurel and China streets in Richmond, Virginia. It mimics a grafitti drawing but is actually painted plywood bolted to a street sign. A similar image appeared earlier in the winter on a side street in Richmond’s Fan District but was gone by the time we returned to document it.

The artist is unknown, and the Laurel Street image remains in situ.
