Hidden Damage
I fall in drops over your tongue
you surrender until only pieces are left
I do the same
Sometimes you sense that I’m not yours
and it softens me
On Sundays
you come bearing birch trees for my womb
and a blue clover that runs down to my feet
I understand
that even though it’s not time to tell you
I’ve already gone
