Midwinter, Tomas Tranströmer | translation by Patty Crane

A blue light

is streaming out from my clothes.

Midwinter.

Jingling tambourines of ice.

I close my eyes.

There is a soundless world

there is a crack

where the dead

are smuggled over the border.
