
Terrance Hayes
1 piece in the archiveTerrance Hayes is the author of four books of poetry: Lighthead (Penguin, 2010), the winner of the 2010 National Book Award; Wind in a Box (Penguin, 2006); Hip Logic (Penguin, 2002), winner of a National Poetry Series award; and Muscular Music (Tia Chucha, 1999), winner of the Kate Tufts Discovery Award. His poems have appeared in The New Yorker , Poetry , and The American Poetry Review . Hayes has received several awards and honors including a Whiting Writers Award, a Pushcart Prize, selections in Best American Poetry, and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. He has an MFA in poetry from the University of Pittsburgh, and is a professor of creative writing at Carnegie Mellon University.
